İZZET KERİBAR (1936-) - "Sunset in Edirne: Old Mosque, Edirne Bedesten and Selimiye Mosque"
Original print photograph in its frame. Huge size: 78x100 cm. Signed by Keribar. This great photographic print shows Eski Camii [i.e. Old Mosque], Bedesten of Edirne, and Selimiye Mosque during sunset in Edirne city. Slightly wear on the right corner and minimal scratches. Otherwise a good print.
Keribar was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1936. Since his early teens, he developed a great interest in photography, and he served as the official photographer of the Turkish Unit during Korean War.
In 1980, after a long intermission, he decided to start photography again. Since then he never stopped, he has organized countless photo trips inside and outside of the country, thus creating one of the most formidable stock images archives in the country. He became an honorary member of IFSAK, the leading photography club, and received both A.Fiap and E.Fiap (Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique) distinctions in 1985 and 1988. After many years of consecutive slide shows, personal exhibitions, and prizes, his name became well known in Turkey.
Lately, in 1991 the French Government gave him a "Chevalier dans l'ordre dees Arts Académique" distinction, and the same year he was awarded the 2d prize in the International Photography Competition of National Geographic and the 1st prize of the Jerusalem Post. In 1993, three new important prizes came from Ballantine's ( 2d, 3d, and an honorable mention ). Thereafter in 1997, he won the 1st prize of Fujifilm European Press Awards, in 2000 a merit prize from National Geographic, and in 2001 Millenium Prize of FUJIFILM Press Awards in Copenhagen. The photographer became the owner of The Grand Artistic prize bestowed by the Ministry of Culture in 2012.
During the last 10 years, his works have been published in Turkey's leading magazines, and also abroad such as Lonely Planet, Altair, National Geographic Traveler, GEO, and many others. In 1999 he published his first book "Terra Magica", in which a collection of his best works can be seen. His seventh book “The Synagogues of Turkey" has been published recently.
Since 1997, Izzet Keribar's only occupation has become photography and he is still practicing as a professional freelancer. He gives lectures in photography and photoshop at various organizations and takes part in the jury in photography competitions. He devotes most of his time to shooting Turkey panorama and still organizes photo trips abroad. Together with his team, he is also active on the commercial side of photography. Nowadays he uses mainly his NIKON systems, with digital cameras such as D850 and D750 with a large array of the best lenses. (The Route Photography Gallery).
The meticulousness of his compositions, his technical craftsmanship, and the emotions he evokes in those who look at his photographs, which are usually caused by the light he uses, make him special as a photographer.

HOCA ALİ RIZA (1858-1930) - "Lithograph"
39x30 cm cartoon board; 26,5x24 cm painting area. Mounted on paper. Ali Riza Bey was known as “hodja” among his friends, his students and his colleagues. Hodja Ali Riza has been the chief painter in the Harbiye Printing House as well as being an art educator in Harbiye Mektebi, an important step in the development of Turkish painting art. Because of various reasons, there is no opportunity for the students to work in the model at that time; he reproduced charcoal drawings created by nature views, country houses, fountains and animal figures by converting them into lithographic works and created albums. These albums he has created have been distributed to his students who worked on those and have influenced the students' artistic understanding and practices. This situation is essential in terms of showing the importance of Hodja Ali Rıza in art education and the point he reached in the printing picture during his period.
